Welcome to Get Screened America

Over the past 15 years, you have heard a lot in newspapers, magazines and on TV about the “fattening of America”, obesity and fatness among our kids, high blood pressure in adults, pre-diabetic conditions, “silent killers”, and how the cost of healthcare keeps increasing. Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, skin cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer … all of these diseases can be detected and/or treated if we are made aware of health risk assessments, health screenings and the simple tests that are available.

Time has flown by as Get Screened America, founded in February 2009, completes its first year with great success stories.  But we're looking for more in 2010.  As a review of some of the accomplishments of 2009 and the high level goals for 2010, click below.

Get Screened America's mission is to make you aware of the importance of being tested or screened for health conditions that can often be easily treated if they are diagnosed early enough.   Such screenings include blood glucose testing (diabetes), blood cholesterol (high cholesterol), blood pressure checks (hypertension), breathing tests (COPD), simple vision tests (glaucoma and/or macular degeneration), and certain cancers (at current only facial skin abnormalities) while stressing early testing needs for colorectal, breast and other invasive cancers.

For 2009, Get Screened America is very proud to annouce the following accomplishments:

  1. Get Screened America sponsored the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge at 10 NHRA events
  2. Get Screened America’s midway pavilion appeared at 4 events (NHRA races), providing over 12,000 fans with information about testing and screening
  3. Over 1600 blood glucose tests, 1200 cholesterol tests and 5000 blood pressure checks were performed - ALL FREE
  4. Over 1500 health risk assessment forms were collected at the new on-track kiosk or on paper, and published behind a secure website
  5. More than 100 Get Screened America Pharmacy Savings Cards were issued
  6. More than 15,000 pieces of educational literature were distributed to interested fans

For 2010, Get Screened America has the following goals:

  1. Expand the program to operate at 12 races
  2. Find corporate sponsors to support the program
  3. Sign pharmaceutical manufacturers to long term commitments to continue FREE testing
  4. Invite local physicians to be track-side as part of a "Physician Peers for Health" group
  5. Add 2-4 more tests

We are very pleased to offer this concept to help change healthcare in America, and are excited about continuing with a broader reach. Get Screened America is a healthcare program that is FREE to you and promotes the importance and awareness of you and your family members being tested and screened as a way to detect these "silent killers" while they are treatable. Devoted to healthcare education, Get Screened America is using motorsports – specifically NHRA – to highlight this awareness in simple language, on this website and at selected NHRA events. We want to de-mystify the screening process, and promote the importance of testing for disease states that can be so easily cured or treated if you get diagnosed early enough. Remember the key words … “get screened”.

While the whole disease “thing” can seem overwhelming, our experts have suggested that we start keying in on some of the diseases that are easiy to diagnose first. So … Get Screened America focuses on:

Keep checking back … there’s more to come!
